Cannabis
Cannabis - marijuana, 'Mary Jane', dope, pot, spliff, hash, hashish, weed, puff, grass, herb, draw, wacky backy, ganja, hemp, skunk (much stronger variety)
Effects:
- Up to 4 hours:
- feeling chilled out, sociable, talkative, giggly.
- Feeling of new insights into life
- Different experience of sounds/music, and colours
- Feeling hungry, sleepy or lightheaded (high or stoned)
- Dulls pain
- Wooly headed, short term memory loss, confusion, co-ordination difficulties, slower reflexes (so it's dangerous to drive).
- Higher doses - feeling sick, anxious, paranoid, panicky or hallucinating.
- Dependence can develop
- Poor memory, less able to concentrate, less motivated
- Seems to trigger mental illness, including schizophrenia, especially in those who already have depression or anxiety or are at greater risk of developing mental health problems (though they won't usually know this). Most likely to develop if
- cannabis is used as a teenager
- you use a lot
- stronger types are used
Cannabis with other drugs:
- Tobacco: using both together gives a high risk of nicotine addiction, smoking related illness (cancers, heart disease, breathing problems) and very high levels of tar (which causes cancers) are taken in.
- HIV drugs: no known dangerous interactions
Sex on Cannabis:
- Can make you feel horny, increase your sense of touch and lower your inhibitions.
- With too much the tranquilising effect takes over.
- Orgasms can seem weaker, more sensual and not just felt in your dick.
- Sex can be more 'touchy feely' with a greater sense of connection to who your with.
- Can make you feel withdrawn and less interested in sex.
- Erection problems in the long term, equal to that of cigarette smokers, if smoked with tobacco.
Staying safe:
- Eating cannabis avoids the health risks of smoking, but once you've swallowed it you can't control the dose, which could be more than you want.
- Smoking joints is less harmful than using a bong as less smoke is inhaled.
- More harmful substances are in cannabis smoke than cigarette smoke.
