Effects:
- feeling chilled out/buzzing up to 4 hours
- feel high
- euphoric/loved up
- jaw clenching
- teeth grinding
- sweating
- anxiety
- panic attacks
- life threatening increase in body temperature
- possible memory loss and depression
with other drugs:
- Alcohol: effects are masked; combination leads to dehydration and puts strain on liver and kidneys
- HIV drugs: can send levels of ecstasy to life threatening levels in the body
- Anti-depressants: serotonin syndrome - agitation, sleeplessness, sweating, faster heart beat and muscle spasms
- Cocaine, speed, crystal meth: puts heart under stress
- Viagra: extra stress on the heart; erection that won't go down, which can cause lasting damage if not treated within 4 hours
Sex on ecstasy:
- lower inhibition, likely to take greater risks
Staying safe:
- drink one pint of water over each hour of dancing to avoid overheating and dehydration.
- avoid ecstasy if you have ever had mental illness or depression.
- Avoid if you have high blood pressure, liver, kidney or heart problems, glaucoma or history of stroke.
