Trans & Non Binary

Confidential sexual health testing for trans men, trans masculine and non binary people.

If you’re sexually active, it’s important to keep yourself and your sexual partners safe. ROAM offers a range of inclusive support services to suit your needs which include:

  • STI and HIV testing
  • PrEP assessments and access to PrEP for Trans and Non Binary people 
  • Hepatitis A&B testing and vaccination
  • HPV vaccination
  • Hate crime support and Third Party Reporting
  • 121 support and onward referrals
  • Signposting to other services

Remember all tests are optional, but disclosing the anatomy you use for sex is important for accurate testing and results. We are an asymptomatic sexual health service and will not examine you. If you feel you may have symptoms of a STI, please contact the Chalmers Sexual Health Centre 0131 536 1070.

This clinic is an inclusive, welcoming space for you to get tested and discuss your health.

The clinic offers:

  • Sexual Health Testing
  • PrEP Consultations
  • Contraception (but not Intrauterine Devices or Systems)
  • Cervical screenings
  • A clinical space to discuss any other sexual health concerns

We run this clinic from Duncan Place, which is located in Leith, Edinburgh. There are many ways to reach us, below is some information you may find useful. Other support services –

Gendered Intelligence – Delivers a range of services, projects and activities to trans, non-binary, and gender questioning people, as well as a range of educational, training and consultancy services to organisations and individuals who are working to better their inclusive practices. The service also engages with public policy and seek to influence legislation, the media, policy and research at a national level.

GIRES – Gender Identity Research & Education Society – GIRES is a UK wide organisation whose purpose is to improve the lives of trans and gender diverse people of all ages, including those who are non-binary and non-gender. Gires’s TranzWiki is a comprehensive directory of non-commercial groups and organisations supporting or assisting trans and gender diverse individuals, their families and friends across the UK.

LGBT Foundation – They are a national charity with LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. They provide services and activities that give a lifeline to those in need, offering hope and support on their journey towards achieving their aspirations.

LGBT Switchboard – Switchboard is the national LGBTQIA+ support line. For anyone, anywhere in the country, at any point in their journey. They can discuss anything related to sexuality and gender identity. Whether it’s sexual health, relationships or just the way you’re feeling. This is your space – to explore, talk and be truly heard.

Galop – is the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity. We work with and for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence.
